Getting it Right

Humans are messed up. The sooner you come to realize that, the better it will be for you.

Though we’d hate to admit it, all humans are capable of evil. From the slightest bad thought to the full-blown massacre of millions, human beings are a devious lot. It’s all because of that deadly virus called Sin. And we all got it.

Sin first entered the human bloodstream when the first humans, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God’s commandment. Ever since, all human beings have born into slavery to sin and continued in that path. In God’s standard, everyone is guilty.  That’s why the Bible says:

As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one…’

Romans 3:10

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

Ever been to one of those rides at the amusement park where there’s a sign that says you have to be this tall to enter? Well it’s kinda like that. If you don’t measure up as good enough in God’s sight, you are a sinner. Nothing we could ever do could make us good enough. And the Bible also tells us the punishment for sin: Eternity in the Lake of Fire. That’s not nice at all.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

But God loves us dearly, and does not want us to be eternally dead. That’s why He sent His only Son as a man, as one of us, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for sin on behalf of the entire human race. That was what Jesus was doing on that cross; He was being punished for your sake.

For God so loved the world

That He gave His only begotten Son,

That whoever believes in Him should not perish

But have everlasting life

John 3:16

Jesus did not remain dead, but He rose to life. It says there that those who believe in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life. God wants us to truly live life to the full, the right way. What He’s got in mind for you is a whole new and better life than you can ever imagine, full of blessing, victory and a great eternal reward. But to do this you must trust your life into God’s hands and choose to follow Him. Then He can do the work on you, causing you to think, say and do the right stuff.

It will also be the hardest decision you’ll ever make. Following Jesus would not always be pretty to others. They will think you’re stupid for doing the right thing, and not doing bad stuff. You will also be tested, but it’s only making you stronger.

It doesn’t matter just how messed up you are. We’re all the same outside Christ. But the difference is made when we enter in and receive His free gift. You can make the decision to follow Christ now, right where you are. Believe in Him. Talk to Him now, because He is right there with you.

  • Confess to Him that you are a sinner and in real need of His help to change.
  • Ask for His forgiveness.
  • Tell Him you believe Jesus died for your sins and rose to life.
  • Receive His gift of eternal life.
  • Choose to follow Him as your Lord.

If you prayed sincerely, you can be sure you’re forgiven. Thank Him for His free gift you have received. You’re now in Christ. The Bible also tells us:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;

Old things have passed away;

Behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

You are a totally new person who is now alive in Christ, because you believed Him and received Him. Even better, you are now a child of God.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name.

John 1:12

 Now, to live you must follow Christ. And you’ll see His work on your life in your thoughts and actions. Welcome to the most amazing adventure of your life, and we know that this one has a very happy ending – IT BEATS ALL!

Read the Bible and talk to God every day. There’s a whole lot more for you to know.
